Tara is a "Navy brat" but mostly claims Florida as her home state. She attended Florida State where she developed a tan and a taste for Comedy Improv. Tara has done improv shows in Orlando, Austin, Texas, Atlanta, Colorado, New York, LA and London. She is proud of her improv work calling it both rewarding and challenging. She considers herself privileged to have played with improvisers from all over the world such as, Matt Stanton and Stephen Guarino. Tara's credits include work in the Georgia Shakespeare Festival in which critics described her as, "a character actress in an ingénue's body." Her work in Atlanta also included playing with the company of Dad's Garage. Tara has taught improv to children through the Alliance Theater Company's acting program. She says she works well with childr

Episode 135 of War Machine vs. War Horse: The Age of Adaline (Death Becomes Her vs. The Fountain)

Last time on War Machine vs. War Horse we looked at kids seeking immortality through music, but this time we skip all that hippie crap and get straight to how Blake Lively does it in THE AGE OF ADALINE. This inspires a look back at Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn trying to conquer the aging process for reasons of vanity in DEATH BECOMES HER, going up against Hugh Jackman making the conquering of death the ultimate quest of love for Rachel Weisz, which has him traveling through time and space in THE FOUNTAIN. Michael Denniston and Emily Mackay also debate the ending of WOMAN IN GOLD, coming to the conclusion that it should have just ripped off the final scene of KILLING THEM SOFTLY.

Episode 03 of Pop Culture Case Study - The Avengers and Teamwork

Today is the day, folks!  Avengers is coming out later tonight! I know I will be there at the 7 PM showing.  If you're watching this weekend (and who isn't?), catch up with one of our episodes, The Avengers and Teamwork.  Does the greatest team in comics comprise a good or great team?  Are any of them psychologically sound?  Listen and find out!

Episode 134 of War Machine vs. War Horse: God Help The Girl (That Thing You Do vs. Not Fade Away)

On this episode we are inspired by new video release GOD HELP THE GIRL to program our own music themed podcast. We have a battle of the bands with two older films facing off in Tom Hanks' THAT THING YOU DO vs. David Chase's NOT FADE AWAY, with the added bonus of a look back into the past with our first ever podcast recording on this James Gandolfini starring film. We were also lucky enough to get to speak with filmmaker Raf Moscatel about his Kickstarter project THE LITTLE GIRL WITH THE BIG VOICE which you can support here:

Episode 52 of Pop Culture Case Study - Gattaca and Privilege

In this episode, Dave discusses one of his old science fiction favorites, Gattaca.  Britt makes an appearance to talk about Dystopian movies, in general.  We discuss both the movie and how it connects to the touchy subject of privilege. Listen! Check out the Show Notes here! Fangirl Fixation Introduction: 0:00:00 Fangirl Fixation: 0:03:07 Privilege: 0:20:25 Gattaca: 0:35:30 Rate and Review on iTunes! Visit our website!

Episode 133 of War Machine Vs War Horse: Child 44

In this episode we look at murder in paradise, more specifically the serial killer hunting children and being hunted himself by Tom Hardy in CHILD 44. This inspires a look back at the controversial rendering of paradise in Peter Jackson's film adaptation of THE LOVELY BONES vs. the troubling utopia portrayed in the more critically acclaimed film adaptation of NEVER LET ME GO. GUEST: None this week, but we really could have used the analysis of Dave from Pop Culture Case Study. You can correct that mistake by checking out his great podcast.

Episode 132 of War Machine Vs War Horse: Closer To The Moon

In this episode we fake our way through a podcast about fake movies. Inspired by CLOSER TO THE MOON we look at an Academy Award winner for Best Picture, and a film that should have won that award in ARGO vs. BOWFINGER. Along the way we insult Marlon Brando, defend Frank Oz, get rejected by Scientology, begin our spec script for a new Sarah Jessica Parker career and reflect on that great time in the 90s when Janeane Garofalo was the box office champion.

Following Films Podcast Episode 34: Andre Gower of Monster Squad

Born in Los Angeles, California, Gower began his career at five years old as a child actor. His first substantial role was as Brookes Prentiss on the CBS soap opera The Young and the Restless from 1981 to 1982. He continued with guest starring roles on The A-Team, T. J. Hooker, and The Wizard. In 1986, he starred with Oscar-winner Piper Laurie in an episode of The New Twilight Zone, "The Burning Man" (an adaptation of a Ray Bradbury short story). In 1987, Gower starred in the comedy/horror film The Monster Squad. Later that year, he starred for two seasons on the Fox series Mr. President with George C. Scott. From 1988 to 1989, Gower had a recurring role on The Hogan Family. Gower currently coaches actors and others entering the entertainment industry.

THE RECONSTRUCTION OF WILLIAM ZERO inspires us to discuss DEAD RINGERS and ENEMY

On this episode we are joined by Howard Gorman of Cinema Chords to talk with Dan Bush, writer/director of the new film THE RECONSTRUCTION OF WILLIAM ZERO. This new release inspired a look back at two older films with twins plotting against each other in DEAD RINGERS and ENEMY. And in true Bad Twin fashion, we give in to our darker impulses and briefly (BRIEFLY) mention the Ant-Man trailer, objectify men, and end up at ROAD HOUSE as we always do.

FURIOUS inspires us to chat about JOY RIDE and THE ITALIAN JOB

On this episode we have fast and furious taste of revenge as the seventh entry in that franchise, FURIOUS 7, brings back the older brother of the previous film’s villain to wreck havoc on our muscled out band of heroes and their muscle cars, which inspired us NOT to get in shape or go to a car show, but to instead watch 2001’s JOY RIDE where a prank leads to a deranged truck driver getting his revenge on Paul Walker and Steve Zahn, and 2003’s THE ITALIAN JOB where Mark Wahlberg and Charlize Theron deliver some payback to their former team member Edward Norton for double crossing them.

Our campaign of the week is A ROLE TO DIE FOR

A ROLE TO DIE FOR is a comedy/thriller set against the backdrop of Hollywood and the entertainment business. And!... most of the things that happen in this film come from actual events! I'm not kidding, it's crazy here. And!... the characters in the film are based on real people that I have met in my many years in this business. So see if you can figure out "who" is really "whom." Or is that the other way around? Whatever... John C McGinley So when Neo-Luddite, (someone who fights against technology, Twitter, FB, etc...) COLIN CLOONEY, played by John C McGinley, (Scrubs, Wall Street, Office Space, Platoon and about 100 other film credits! ) ---- hears about a role of a Luddite being cast by Movie Producer, HANK HENRY, played by Jonathan Banks, (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, 48 hours, Beverly Hills Cop, so old-school film, he drips melted celluloid! -- film.) Colin knows this is the part he has been waiting for his whole life, but whe

Interview with Dan Bush about The Reconstruction of William Zero and The Signal

Today our guest is Dan Bush the director and writer of The Reconstruction of William Zero. Out of fear that I might spoil the film for some of you I’ll default to IMDB for a description of the film. A geneticist wakes up from an accident with only fragments of his memory and is forced to relearn who he is via his twin brother. But as he digs deeper, he discovers he might not be who he thought at all. This is a great movie made by an incredibly talented filmmaker. The film is currently playing in limited release and available on VOD. I’m also joined by Howard Gorman of Cinema Chords for the interview. This is a film and an interview I’ve been looking forward to for quite some time. So of course my internet connection went to shit about half way through the recording and messed up the sound. I played with it for a couple hours and got the sound quality as good as I could get it. I’m sure somebody with engineering skills could’ve made it much better but I did what I could with wha

Daniel Moya talks Rental

Rental director Daniel Moya chats about his kickstarter 'Rental' tells the story of Darren, an employee at the last ever video rental store on his final shift. An aspiring screenwriter, he is constantly imagining the surreal possibilities of cinema in his own life, blurring the line between reality and fiction. The relationships with the customers (who have each been affected by movies in a different way) and the romance that he tries to create with his co-worker, Tessa, shift his outlook on life forever. In the same way that one rents a movie and returns it with only the memory to hold onto, this film tackles the coming and going of people, feelings and ways of life. Follow Rental on Twitter (@rentalfilm) for additional updates: https://twitter.com/rentalfilm

Interview with John Mehrer

John Mehrer is an assistant director and production manager, known for Sharknado (2013), Hansel & Gretel (2013) and Bermuda Tentacles (2014) I had John on the show to help me understand what the hell a line producer does. Sure I could google it but I'd much rather go to the source and ask someone who has done the job. John was a refreshingly honest guest who I had a blast talking with. We chat about his work on Dude Bro Party Massacre III, Bethany and Sharknado plus I can't remember the name of a movie (Student Bodies) How's that for show? You made it this far, what the hell are you doing? Download this shit already.

Interview with Jill Morley about her film Fight Like A Girl

Morley is a woman you don’t want to mess with. First of all she’s from New Jersey and as former resident of the Garden State I know from personal experience how tough they make them out there. Secondly she was an actress, I’m not sure of another profession that will thicken your skin faster than professional acting, the constant rejection and disappointment makes it a career path not for the faint of heart. And last but certainly not the least of the reasons to not screw with Jill, she’s a boxer. Jill set out to make a documentary about herself training for the Golden Gloves boxing completion but ending up making a deeply human film about completion and rising above adversity. Her narrative is the spine of the film but we are also introduced to several other female boxers and given their stories of how they found their way to the ring. Full disclosure, I hate fighting. MMA turns my stomach and I’ve never understood why people find boxing entertaining. Professional figh
