MARK AS PLAYED: Thor Ragnarok & Suburbicon and Filmmakers Playing in Another's Sandbox

On this episode we are inspired not so much by the latest cinematic offerings in THOR: RAGNAROK and SUBURBICON but from a conversation on the great BAD FEMINIST FILM CLUB podcast about coming to terms with different filmmakers realigning characters in a franchise to their own individual creative sensibilities. And while this has been done with much success in the latest Marvel film which was shepherded by Taika Waititi, previous critical darling George Clooney has taken a beating with his attempt to put his fingerprints on a Coen Bros. script. For that we recommend an episode from WHO SHOT YA? on the idea that Clooney is perhaps too close of a collaborator with the Coens. As usual we come to no conclusions other than Andrew of AB FILM REVIEW wanting no more "unoffical" Coen work hitting the silver screen and Mike of PROJECTING FILM coming to terms with the fact that there's no way to praise Mr. Waititi's work without thinking that his name sounds silly (but pleasant).

2023 Director : Jackson Publick Starring : Doc Hammer, James Urbaniak, Michael Sinterniklaas, Chris McCulloch, Clancy Brown, and JK Simmons  The Venture Bros.: Radiant is the Blood of the Baboon Heart is an absolute triumph that brilliantly continues the story of the beloved animated series. Discovery Home Entertainment has delivered a truly special piece of animation that had me from start to finish. While the plot for the film is about what you'd expect from a direct to home video feature based on an animated series, there is something in the way all the pieces come together that is utterly compelling, making it impossible to look away. The story is well-crafted and the return of an imposing evil from the past adds a layer of depth and intensity that fans will appreciate. The voice talents in The Venture Bros. have always been top-notch, and R
