Interview w/ Writer/Director William Dickerson on his Film NO ALTERNATIVE

In the 20's, there was The Lost Generation, the 50's, The Beat Generation, and in the 90's...The Suicide Generation.  NO ALTERNATIVE  is a teen drama set in the world of grunge-era teenagers in the early 90s. Thomas Harrison is determined to start his own alternative band after the suicide of Kurt Cobain -- it's an obsession that blinds him to what's either the mental collapse or the eruption of musical genius, of his little sister, Bridget. Bridget boldly rejects her brother's music, and the music of an entire generation of slackers, by taking on the persona of a gangsta' rapper named "Bri Da B."  Today I had the chance to chat with William Dickerson about his film NO ALTERNATIVE that will be premiering at DANCES WITH FILMS on Thursday, June 7th at 8 pm. How are you today? I’m doing well. I’m also doing a lot of running around, preparing for our premiere at Dances With Films, but it’s the kind of running around that I love doing!

THE WORKERS CUP Opens this Friday, June 8

In 2022 Qatar will host the biggest sporting event in the world - the FIFA World Cup. But right now, far away from the bright lights, star athletes and adoring fans, migrant workers from Africa and Asia toil exceedingly long hours for scant salaries, and live isolated in labor camps which are by law kept outside city limits. By day they sweat to build the World Cup, but at night they compete in the “workers welfare” football tournament, playing in the same stadiums that will one day host the world’s greatest players. The film follows one team of men from Nepal, India, Ghana, and Kenya whose only common ground is their love for football. Each match offers them a momentary escape from the homesickness and isolation they endure as the lowest class in the world’s richest country. Over the course of the tournament the men alternate between two startling extremes: they play heroes on the football pitch - but are the lowest members of society off the field. Teaser Trailer and 6 Posters for Amazon Studios Remake of SUSPIRIA

A darkness swirls at the center of a world-renowned dance company, one that will engulf the troupe's artistic director, an ambitious young dancer, and a grieving psychotherapist. Some will succumb to the nightmare. Others will finally wake up. Suspiria arrives in theaters November 2. From director Luca Guadagnino. Starring Dakota Johnson, Tilda Swinton, Mia Goth, Jessica Harper and Chloe Grace Moretz. Like most remakes, I have little to no faith that this adaptation will hold up to the original. With that being said this teaser trailer is about as good as I could have hoped for, now I'm slightly more optimistic. We'll have to wait until November 2nd of this year to find out if my new found optimism proves to be misguided. At the very least renewed interest in the original is never a bad thing. Below I've included 5 teaser posters.

A24 Delays Release of UNDER THE SILVER LAKE

Indie powerhouse A24 has delayed the release of David Robert Mitchell's highly anticipated follow up to IT FOLLOWS , UNDER THE SILVER LAKE from June 22nd to December 7th. While it had a mixed reaction out of Cannes, it is still one of the films I'm most looking forward to this year. No indication if the delay is to tweak the film, release it in time for awards contention, or generate more buzz. A24 has a pretty solid track record so I'm cautiously optimistic about what this means. Let's check in with Film Twitter to see what their crystal balls have to say... That didn't take long

The Desolation Center film - A Reagan-era guerrilla punk and industrial desert happening in SoCal

DESOLATION CENTER is the previously untold story of a series of Reagan-era guerrilla music and art performance happenings in Southern California that are recognized to have paved the way for Burning Man, Lollapalooza and Coachella, collective experiences that have become crucial parts of alternative culture in the 21st century. The feature documentary splices interviews and rare performance footage of Sonic Youth, Minutemen, Meat Puppets, Swans, Redd Kross, EinstΓΌrzende Neubauten, Survival Research Laboratories, Savage Republic and more, documenting a time when pushing the boundaries of music, art, and performance felt almost like an unspoken obligation. Directed by Stuart Swezey, the creator and principal organizer of these unique events, DESOLATION CENTER demonstrates how the risky, and at times even reckless, actions of a few outsiders can unintentionally lead to seismic cultural shifts. Combining Swezey’s exclusive access to never-before-seen archival video, live audio r

Star Thrower Entertainment Takes Rights to The Most Dangerous Man in America for Event Series

In a highly competitive situation, Tim and Trevor White’s Star Thrower Entertainment has acquired rights to the critically-acclaimed new novel The Most Dangerous Man in America by Bill Minutaglio & Steven L. Davis, with the intention of developing into a limited series. Based on freshly uncovered primary sources and new firsthand interviews, The Most Dangerous Man in America follows Timothy Leary's daring prison escape and run from the law in 1970. Aided by the Weather Underground, Leary's prison break was the counterculture's union of "dope and dynamite," aimed at sparking a revolution and overthrowing the government. The ensuing global manhunt, led by President Nixon who branded Leary "the most dangerous man in America," spanned twenty-eight months and wound its way among homegrown radicals, European aristocrats, a Black Panther outpost in Algeria, an international arms dealer, hash-smuggling hippies from the Brotherhood of Eternal Love, an
