Directed by Brent Wilson (no relation to Brian), this intimate doc features several unreleased gems from Brian Wilson's career that have been rumored to exist for years, but never heard. Guided by Rolling Stone editor and Wilson's longtime friend Jason Fine, LONG PROMISED ROAD follows the two men as they drive around Wilson's old L.A. haunts—including Paradise Cove, where the Beach Boys' iconic first LP cover for "Surfin' Safari" was shot—as Wilson reflects on his life and music. Brian candidly delves into his childhood, his contentious relationship with his father, the nine years he spent under the “guidance” of controversial psychologist Dr. Eugene Landy, his struggles with depression and mental illness, his deep love for his brothers, and, of course, the many recording sessions that immortalized his singular sound. Weighing in on the impact of his musical genius are admirers and fellow greats including Al Jardine, Don Was, Bruce Springsteen, Elton John
