Two and a half decades before "The Walking Dead" made zombies mainstream on cable television, 19-year-old writer/director J.R. About the films: In 1986 the heyday of the Slasher film was on the decline. Films like HALLOWEEN, TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, FRIDAY THE 13th, and their countless imitators had grown predictable and somewhat cynical. Studios were embarrassed to make the films but continued to churn them out because the return on investment was undeniable. Producer/Director Sean S.
