Interview with Gabe Polsky director of RED ARMY

From Oscar® nominated and Emmy award-winning filmmakers, RED ARMY is a feature documentary about the Soviet Union and the most successful dynasty in sports history: the Red Army hockey team. Told from the perspective of its captain Slava Fetisov, the story portrays his transformation from national hero to political enemy. From the USSR to Russia, the film examines how sport mirrors social and cultural movements and parallels the rise and fall of the Red Army team with the Soviet Union. RED ARMY is an inspiring story about the Cold War played out on the ice rink, and a man who stood up to a powerful system and paved the way for change for generations of Russians. Gabe Polsky co-directed and produced the award winning and critically acclaimed The Motel Life, starring Emile Hirsch, Dakota Fanning, and Stephen Dorff. Additional producing credits include: Werner Herzog’s Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans, which was named in over 40 top

Interview with Bradford Lipson DP for Wilfred and The New Kevin Hart film The Wedding Ringer

Courtesy of Screen Gems Bradford Lipson is an incredibly gifted cinematographer whose work on Wilfred earned him the  Outstanding Achievement in Cinematography in Half-Hour Episodic Television Series from the ASC. His latest film is The Wedding Ringer and it open in theaters everywhere this Friday.   The role of DP is a complicated one. It’s both tactile and intangible. In a way I guess it’s the manipulation of light and shadow for the purpose of storytelling. How do you define the role of DP and what drew you to the profession? For me, the role of the DP is to help support the director in the telling of a story.  The lighting and lensing is all about pushing the story forward. As a DP, I get to add to this and be a vital part of the process, whether it’s lighting and lensing a scene to add more emotion, or to emphasize a comedic moment.  It’s also a technical role, which demands attention to detail, organization and being able to figure out how to block, light and shoo

Interview with Paul Solet director of Dark Summer and Grace

DARK SUMMER combines elements of films that have come before it but presents them in a way that gives us something new and completely original. Yes, this is a genre film but much like Paul Solets first film GRACE this is a shocking film that puts character and performance first. Daniel Austins (Keir Gilchrist) obsessive online stalking of his classmate and crush, Mona Wilson (Grace Phipps), leads to his house arrest for the whole summer. Daniel is a modern technology obsessed teenager. So now he will spend his summer vacation with; no cell phone, no Internet, no access to the world beyond his property, and perhaps most devastating of all no Mona . Chris Maynard: I just watched the film (Dark Summer) last night and I did it as a double feature with Grace and the first thing I noticed is how tonally different the films are. Is that something you were conscious of when choosing this project? Paul Solet: In the time since Grace was released the film business has chan
