THE FIRST PURGE in Theaters July 4th

Behind every tradition lies a revolution. Next Independence Day, witness the rise of our country’s 12 hours of annual lawlessness. Welcome to the movement that began as a simple experiment: The First Purge. To push the crime rate below one percent for the rest of the year, the New Founding Fathers of America (NFFA) test a sociological theory that vents aggression for one night in one isolated community. But when the violence of oppressors meets the rage of the marginalized, the contagion will explode from the trial-city borders and spread across the nation. Coming off the most successful film in the series, The Purge: Election Year, creator James DeMonaco (writer/director of The Purge, The Purge: Anarchy and The Purge: Election Year) returns alongside the producers of this worldwide phenomenon: Blumhouse Productions’ Jason Blum (Insidious series, Get Out, Split), Platinum Dunes partners Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Ouija series, The Te

Orchestra Rehearsal - Blu ray Review

1978 Directed by - Federico Fellini A documentary television crew interviews musicians preparing for a rehearsal in a rundown church that doubles as a makeshift auditorium. Durning the interviews the musicians interrupt one another and show outright contempt. Each musician believes their instrument is the most vital to the success of the performance and calls the other performers talent and integrity into question. The conductor barks orders with an affected German accent to drive home his authoritarian role in the orchestra. He has conflicts with both the musicians and the labor reps who are overseeing the proceedings. The tension is immediate and eventual spirals into chaos and revolution. Orchestra Rehearsal is overtly political and satirical in its execution. Connections to our current political climate are in fact easy to make. This is one of Fellini's funniest and most thoroughly entertaining efforts. Rich imagery and expressive style fill every frame of Orchestra

Alex Ross Perry's GOLDEN EXITS Opening Theatrically in New York February 9th

Nick has settled into a safe existence in a small pocket of Brooklyn, where he currently toils on an archival project for his father-in-law. Writer/director Alex Ross Perry (2014’ Listen Up Philip) explores the personal torment belying domesticated oblivion, with an ensemble cast embracing both the dramatic and darkly comedic faces of despair. As with his previous works, Golden Exitsreunites Perry's regular collaborators: cinematographer Sean Price Williams, editor Robert Greene, and composer Keegan DeWitt.

PROJECTING FILM: Please Stand By (Planes, Trains & Automobiles meets Nurse Betty)

On this episode we hit the road with Dakota Fanning in her new film PLEASE STAND BY about a Trekkie pursuing her dream of getting her script produced while her family catches up with her (in more ways than one). This inspires a look back at not only our previous episode on THE ROAD MOVIE (hey you should download that) but also that blend of fantasy in NURSE BETTY and the harsh realities of travel in PLANES, TRAINS & AUTOMOBILES. Along the way we both embrace and reject Patton Oswalt's proud use of the Klingon language. Feel free to embrace and reject us at the links below!
