Mudbloods Trailer

Mudbloods is a documentary film about people who play Quidditch... for real, they actually play a version of the game. Reminds me of Darkon from a couple years ago. and just in case you missed it here is darkon

International Birdman Trailer

Fuck Yes! Fuck Yes! Fuck Yes! I'm trying conceal my excitement for this movie. Fuck Yes!

Woody Allen facing charges of racism

Woody Allen is no stranger to controversy. The 78 year old writer/director/actor/comedian/musician married his step daughter and has faced allegations of sexual abuse so the idea that he doesn't hire actors on the basis of race seems like small potatoes at this point. Yahoo!  is running this This is such a non-story that it seems hard to believe it's getting any press. Then again I have decided to run it as well. But I assure you my motivation is slightly different. I'm personally sick of stories like this. Stories where pseudo-journalists who are so hungry for a scandal they will try to create one where there is none.  Woody Allen doesn't hire black actors? Are you kidding me? That's the best you could come up with? It's Woody "don't leave your kids with" Allen and that's what you go after him on? I'm about the most sensitive bleeding heart douche bag I know and even I'm not falling for this one.  The part at the e

Alex Kurtzman to direct new Mummy movie

Looking over Alex Kurtzman's IMDB page you will find that he was a writer on The Amazing Spider Man 2, Cowboys & Aliens, Transformers, MI:3, The Island and Xena: Warrior Princess. While most of his films do not speak to my personal tastes he has been a very busy man for quite a while. I'm curious to see what he will do with this project considering Universal wants the new monster films to be in the Action/Adventure genre like the Stephen Sommers films from 15 years ago.

Disney's Into The Woods Trailer

Taken from the Disney press release Walt Disney Studios, the studio behind "Frozen" and "The Muppets", presents "Into the Woods", a stunning big-screen comedic musical adventure. When the Baker and his wife (James Corden and Emily Blunt) discover they have been put under a curse from the Witch (Meryl Streep) rendering them forever childless, they embark on a life changing adventure into the woods to seek out special items needed to lift the curse. The cow as white as milk belonging to a poor village boy named Jack (Daniel Huttlestone) looking to sell his milk-less cow, the cape as red as blood belonging to a courageous and blood thirsty little Red Riding hood (Lilla Crawford), the hair as yellow as corn from atop the head of a lonely and outcasted Rapunzel (Mackenzie Mauzy) and finally the shoe as pure as gold having fallen from a distressed Cinderella's (Anna Kendrick) foot. With giants abound and where Big Bad Wolves (Johnny Depp) become the

The Spy Who Came in from the Cold

1965 Directed By Martin Ritt Starring Richard Burton, Oskar Werner and Claire Bloom Most films dealing with espionage are steeped in jingoism and rarely approach characterization with a natural style. The characters are mostly one dimensional super humans possessing abnormally well-developed strength or intelligence, depending on the film. Martin Ritts film is based on the John Le Carre novel by the same name. Le Carre was renowned for his brutally realistic look at the world of counter intelligence. The Spy Who Came in from the Cold follows Alec Leamas (Richard Burton) a British counter intelligence officer who is sent to East Germany to frame a German spy. He is tasked with spreading false information about the German officer by appearing to confess during interrogation. The plot is fairly straight forward but this is not one that you can be distracted while watching. Put away your iPad and make sure the kid is in bed before you start this film. For a film from 19

The Hateful Eight Poster

I avoided reading the screenplay for this one when it leaked a couple months ago and couldn't be happier that Tarantino has decided to go forward with this project. This world can always use more of his films.

The Hobbit The Battle of The Five Armies Trailer

I love Peter Jackson's vision of Middle Earth. I understand that his Hobbit films are a departure from the novels but they do fit in with his Lord of The Rings films nicely. I look forward to one day spending 24 straight hours with these characters. this trailer already has around 6 million views... Jesus I was late to the party

Kill Bill The Whole Bloody Affair to get 2015 theatrical release

This is the 4 hour version of the film that geeks around the world have been clamoring for. At SDCC Tarantino discussed the extended animation sequence that will be included in this new cut.  From QT himself This is one of those projects I've heard rumors of for the last ten years but I thought I'd never see in a theater. This version of the film is the reason I've never purchased Kill Bill on Blu Ray. Great news.

Atari: Game Over Trailer

A movie about the worst video game in the history of all video games and how Atari buried millions of copies of it in a landfill. Why do I want to see this? It really was a terrible game.

TMNT 9/11 poster

This is a silly poster for a silly movie. Yes, its scheduled for release on September 11th. This image in no way evokes or references 9/11. Sweet Jesus we have more important things to worry about than a Michael Bay produced movie about young amphibians who are proficient at martial arts and love pizza. If this is the source of your outrage, you truly live the life of Riley. Here it is in all its offensive glory.

Dead 2 India Trailer

The Greyness of Autumn

2012 Directed By Chris Quick Starring Duncan Airlie James and Amy E Watson I  That image above is what got me. Most of the requests I receive to watch peoples short films are a bit unnerving. I always want to encourage young artists but at the same time I wouldn't be doing them any favors by sugar coating my reactions. A 13 minute Scottish film with an ostrich as its protagonist? At the very least I was already pulling for this one. Danny (Ostrich, voiced by Duncan James) is having a rough day, he loses his job and his girlfriend Katie (Amy E Watson) in quick succession. That's all I really want to say about the plot because I'd rather not give anything away. Its only 13 minutes long and yes it is worth your time. That is if you want to watch a sock puppet deal with depression. I'm always up for something new and this is most certainly something I have not seen before. The Greyness of Autumn is at its best when everyone is playing it straight

Battered Bastards of Baseball

2014  Directed By Chapman Way & Maclain Way Starring Todd Field, Kurt Russell, Rob Nelson For thirteen seasons Bing Russell played Deputy Clem on Bonanza. He also had roles on Gunsmoke, Mod Squad, The Streets of San Francisco and most noteworthy The Magnificent Seven. Outside of acting he had a deep love of Baseball. Bing was a student of the sport. He was so deeply knowledgeable on the subject of Baseball that he made instructional videos on how to coach it. The videos were apparently so well made that several MLB teams used them. In 1972 Bonanza was cancelled and Bing was unemployed. He had begun to lose interest in acting and was in something of a slump. Around the same time Portlands minor league baseball team had been sold and moved out of state. After 70 years the city of Portland was without a baseball team and after 20 years of non-stop acting Bing Russell was without a job. The Battered Bastards of Baseball tells the story of how an actor started the onl

Four Character One Sheets for Mad Max Furry Road

Every image from this film gets me more excited. It can't be worse than Thuderdome. Can it?

Final Pieces of the Avengers SDCC banner

First Image of Wonder Woman from Batman v Superman

Yup that looks like Wonder Woman still not sure how I feel about the direction of this franchise but I have my fingers crossed

And yet another Avengers image

This is a promotional tie in with Harley Davidson who is unveiling its all electric motorcycle Scarlett Johansson with Captain Americas shield

Joaquin Phoenix to play Doctor Strange for Marvel studios

+ = Strange Indeed  The Wrap  is reporting that Joaquin Phoenix will be announced as the star of Marvel Studios Doctor Strange film sometime tomorrow. I could completely understand why Disney would want Phoenix but I'm not convinced that Phoenix would want Marvel. He has been making interesting films for the better part of the last decade and man in tights doesn't really seen to fit his career trajectory. But then again what the hell do I know? I'm a silly blogger in Tucson Arizona with opinions about shit that has nothing to do with me. Have a great day.

Robert Kirkman making an Exorcism show for Cinemax

Avengers Concept Art this time BIGGER

This time BIGGER for your viewing pleasure

Some Avengers 2 Age of Ultron concept art

Seriously this is the kind of stuff you see at SDCC 2014? Why would anyone want to wait in all those lines, spend all that money, deal with all those people to get a sneak preview of advertising? Sweet Jesus you people are crazy. Looks cool though.

Horns Poster

This is the poster for Alexandre Aja's film Horns. The guy who brought us High Tension and The Hills Have Eyes remake has teamed up with Harry Potter to bring us this...

New Image of Ben Affleck in the Cowl

Batman always looks so sad. He could really use a hug. If you see him say thanks for fighting off the Joker and we can't wait to see him kick the Man of Steels ass on May 16th 2016 in Batman V Superman

Better Call Saul Billboard and Voicemail

If you call the number above this is what you here While this isn't film related. I miss Breaking Bad and in my humble opinion it wasn't a tv show but an 87 hour film broken down into 45 minute chunks.

Batman V Superman Cape and Cowl on display at SDCC

It has a Frank Miller feel and I personally love that direction

Interview With Phil Mossman

Phil Mossman is a composer who has worked with artists like U2 and Jon Spencer Blues Explosion and he worked on Stephen Soderburgh’s Out Of Sight and Oceans 11 . He was also a member of LCD Soundsystem and took part in the band’s legendary final performance that was captured for the film Sut Up and Play the Hits .  Mr. Mossman is a very busy man and was kind enough to take part in this interview. I contacted him to discuss his work on the film We Are What Are. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this. How are you today? I am building a new studio in Dumbo Brooklyn and have been waiting for the telephone guy.  I hope it starts ringing once he plugs it in. Where are you from? London, England. When did you discover music? Before I was born my Mum was a mod and she got a job with Motown when they did a UK review.  One of her jobs was to lead Stevie Wonder onstage.  When I was 4 or 5 she got me one of those suitcase record players and gave me all

Mad Max Furry Road Poster

First official Mad Max Furry Road poster. Is it just me or does this have a Breaking Bad feel?

Spider Man 3 pushed back to 2018

Sony has pushed back the release of its next Spider Man films by several years. The Amazing Spider Man 3 was initially slated for release in 2016 will now be released in 2018. Spider Man 2 ended clearly with a sequel in mind. What does this 2 year push back for the future of the franchise? If I had to guess, I'd say we may never see The Amazing Spider Man 3. Eventually the floor will fall out from underneath one of these $200 million comic book movies. The summer is already saturated with men and women in tights saving the planet. Putting the brakes on the franchise before its completely dead is a smart move for Sony. The Marvel method cannot be applied to every franchise. By the way remember what happened the last time we had a Spider Man 3?   Yeah, so do I.

The Hobbit The Battle of The Five Armies Poster

The poster for Peter Jacksons final venture to Middle Earth Wow. That is a great image. Desolation of Smaug was a huge improvement over An Unexpected Journey. Lets hope Jackson continues with that trajectory.

Interview With Itay Gross

Interview conducted by Christopher Maynard Itay Gross is a cinematographer who has worked on films like  Excision  and  Europa . While his films are varied in genre and style, they are always stunning to look at. Itay has an approach that never feels overpowering. He creates memorable images that service the story in profound ways. Itay lives in Israel and (if you don’t keep up with current events) he has far more important things to think about than my silly questions. It was truly an honor for him to take time for this interview. He is a generous man who is an incredibly gifted artist. Where are you from? I am originally from Israel, born and raised in Tel Aviv. What did your parents do for a living? My parents are both dentists.  In fact, no one in my family is in the arts. It’s a voyage I took on by myself. How did you discover film? Narratives and stories have always intrigued me and seemed like the most fascinating method of depicting desires, visions and fanta

The Truth About Andy's Father

Here is well laid out theory about Andy's father in the Toy Story films From  The Huffington Post Fine, here's what happened to Andy's dad. A few months ago, I argued  the theory that Andy's mother is actually Emily , the girl who originally owned Jesse in  Toy Story 2 . The post quickly went viral, as many people began debating whether or not this is true, intentional, etc. Since then, literally hundreds (if not thousands) of people have been asking me about Andy's dad , and I've never wanted to address the issue for a few key reasons: It's depressing. It's depressing. It's depressing. You see, I love talking about theories like Andy's mom and how all of the Pixar movies are connected because that's tons of fun to think about. Andy's dad? That's just... well, you get it. But I can see that a lot of you want to know anyway, and it's really not that complicated. In fact, this is one of the few theories about
