Original Remake: HERE COMES MR. JORDAN and DOWN TO EARTH

We give this podcast thing a second chance in our return from the dead. To do so we are joined by Alyssa from the Hindsight Movie Podcast for a double feature of HERE COMES MR. JORDAN and DOWN TO EARTH. Which films reminded us of the joy of talking cinema and which one made us wish we stayed in podcast heaven? Find out on this episode along with many other things like the meaning of getting "in the pink" and the announcement of an ENTIRELY NEW PODCAST from Alyssa and your hosts Mike and Peter!

Original Remake: The Day the Earth Stood Still 1951 and 2008

In this episode the original hosts of the show, Mike and Peter, are back just in time for an alien invasion involving Keanue Reeves and placenta armor. But before we get to Scott Derrickson's 2008 remake, a look back at the original Cold War era film from 1951 when Gort robots could bend their knees and could predict the future heroic quests of a man with a chainsaw for a hand. Then we predict a newer version of this film which involves The Chastain. Then again that's our  hope  for every future remake.

Original Remake: Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and Star Trek Into Darkness

With Marvel's  Dr. Strange  premiering and newly home released  Star T rek Beyond  coming in the same week, Peter and returning guest  Seth Heasley  of the  Take Me To Your Reader Podcast  take a look at Khan in both STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN and STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS.

Original Remake: The Lady Vanishes 1938 and 2013

Joining us on the trip to the 2013 BBC television remake is Dwight Hurst from The Broken Brain podcast , who helps us cure our current affliction of hysterical women and the podcasters who love them.

Original Remake: Seven Samurai and The Magnificent Seven

We saddle up and return from our podcast hiatus which was spent on watching the VERY LONG but very good Akira Kurosawa film SEVEN SAMURAI. The saddle part comes in with the first western remake THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN. These two films also inspire possible stripper names and sexy Halloween costumes for our hosts Mike and Peter.

Original Remake: Finding Nemo and Finding Dory

Peter is joined by returning guest  Mason  of  reeldudereviews.com  for a discussion about the 2003 FINDING NEMO and the 2016 FINDING DORY. They being with a non-spoiler review and then debate which movie about talking fishes was more realistic.

Original Remake: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 1990 and 2014

With the upcoming release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Out of the Shadows, Peter recruits the aide of Aaron and Patrick of the Feelin' Film Podcast to review the 1990 and 2014 versions of TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES. They talk about their history with the popular franchise and also recast some of the more notable characters in this Turtle Power filled episode.

Original Remake: Captain America 1990 and 2011

We have our own civil war with two sides of Captain America. The first being the failed release of his 1990 adventure which ended up making its way direct to video in 1992. The much higher budgeted Marvel Cinematic Universe version in 2011 introduced Cap as The First Avenger and was the last solo MCU film before a little arthouse success in Joss Whedon's Avengers the following year. This one isn't much of a debate, so we bring in Master Sergeant Bill Paxton as a true threat to the guy wielding the shield.

Original Remake: Freaky Friday 1976 and 2003

On this episode hosts Peter and Mike combine our last two holiday weekends of Mother's Day and Friday the 13th by watching two versions of the mother/daughter body switch comedy FREAKY FRIDAY. Is this the only chance for Lindsay Lohan to better Jodie Foster in an acting performance? Does Jamie Lee Curtis' 2003 rendition of "...Baby One More Time" have us traveling back to the 1976 version as quickly as we can? Find out the answer to these very important questions in our latest episode!

Original Remake: Jungle Book 1967 and 2016

In this episode host Peter is joined by guest Mason of ReelDudeReviews.com to compare the animated JUNGLE BOOK with the new live-action version directed by Jon Favreau. They discuss some of the differences in characters and tell you which version they recommend.

Original Remake: School for Scoundrels 1960 and 2006

On this episode hosts Mike and Peter decide to enroll in the SCHOOL FOR SCOUNDRELS instead of seeing Melissa McCarthy's THE BOSS. We discuss how the scoundrel curriculum has changed from the 1960 original to the 2006 remake taught by Billy Bob Thornton. And being the great students that we are, we make some recommendations for staffing in a future version of this story.

Original Remake: The Bad News Bears 1976 and 2005

On this episode we celebrate the return of baseball (mainly just Michael) by watching the 1976 and 2005 versions of THE BAD NEWS BEARS. We admire the hard living of Walter Matthau, the romantic peak of Billy Bob Thornton, and the cinematic coaching abilities of Mark Wahlberg in PAIN & GAIN. Join us as we take your earbuds back to a time when Freddy Krueger ruled the diamond as we wait for Richard Linklater's newest baseball movie EVERYBODY WANTS SOME to make its way to our local theater.

Original Remake: The Dark Knight Returns and Batman v Superman

On this episode, featured player and our resident horror expert Derek Stewart returns to relive the horror of watching BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE. We discuss the film's attempt to present a version of Frank Miller's THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS on the big screen, which was far more successfully done with a straightforward animated adaptation for the home video market.

Original Remake: Superman II and Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut

Peter recruits  Jay  of The  KedaNJay Show  to compare both versions of SUPERMAN II and discuss if either versions made us believe a man can fly and all the differences between both movies.

Original Remake: Sons of Katie Elder and Four Brothers

We take a look back at a 1965 classic western SONS OF KATIE ELDER and compare it with it's loose remake FOUR BROTHERS.

Original Remake: Olympus Has Fallen and White House Down

In this episode our hosts take a tour of the White House twice with the films Olympus Has Fallen and White House Down. Do they choose Gerard Butler or Channing Tatum as their tour guide? Two-Face or Electro as their President? But most importantly, which First Kid was more annoying to noted child hater Mike?

Original Remake: Assault on Precinct 13 1976 and 2005

On this episode we protect the integrity of Precinct 13, or more accurately Precinct 9, Division 13. Shane Conner, co-host of the podcast War Machine vs. War Horse, bunkers down for a debate on the appropriate amount of cheese, how far we have NOT come in film casting since 1976, and the possibility of future remakes for this John Carpenter classic. But for now, we try to survive the 1976 and 2005 versions of ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13.

Original Remake: Prefontaine and Without Limits

We look into the life of former track star Steve Prefontaine, from the University of Oregon, in PREFONTAINE and WITHOUT LIMITS. We discuss the style and perspectives from some of the different characters and also debate Breckin Meyer or Jeremy Sisto.

Original Remake: The Secret Life of Walter Mitty 1947 and 2013

We discuss Ben Still remaking a film to far greater effect than ZOOLANDER 2 with the 2013 version of THE SECRET LIFE OF WALTER MITTY. Listen to us compare the fantasies of not one, but TWO Walter Mittys. Do we daydream about Danny Kaye patter-songs? Or maybe Ben Stiller punching Adam Scott in his very punchable face is more our tempo. Either way, all of your fantasies will be fulfilled in the latest episode of ORIGINAL REMAKE.

Original Remake: The Ladykillers 1955 and 2004

For all of our podcast valentines out there we present A Very Problematic Episode on how to lie, cheat, steal, and manipulate your way to success with the ladies. To do so, we of course don't share any actual life experience but take in a double feature of the 1955 LADYKILLERS starring Alec Guinness and the 2004 Coen brothers remake starring Tom Hanks. We look at not only the cultural differences between the English and American versions, but also how the 2004 version would be received in 2016. And of course some Batman and James Bond talk with guest Derek Stewart because... hashtags.
