What's Coming to Shudder this July

The fine folks over at Shudder were kind enough to give me the scoop on all the new titles they will be releasing next month,  so I thought I'd take a minute to go through some of the highlights with you. Sound good? Let's do it! It's an impressive slate of original programming, world premier exclusives, and genre classics.  If you don't already subscribe, THE BEACH HOUSE is worth the monthly subscription charge on its own. Yellow Veil Pictures Snags the Rights to Lost George A. Romero Film THE AMUSEMENT PARK

File this one under, holy shit, yes, thank god some good news today!!!! NY/LA-based arthouse/genre sales company Yellow Veil Pictures have acquired the worldwide sales rights for THE AMUSEMENT PARK, the formerly lost film from iconic filmmaker George A. Romero. Recently discovered and restored 46 years after its completion by the George A. Romero Foundation and produced by Suzanne Romero it was restored in 4k by IndieCollect in New York, THE AMUSEMENT PARK is an alluring snapshot of the filmmaker's early artistic capacity and style, and would go on to inform his ensuing filmography. The film was originally commissioned by the Lutheran Society to raise awareness about ageism and elder abuse. Romero, however, conceived of what was perhaps his wildest, most imaginative movie, an allegory about the nightmarish realities of growing older. Listen up 90's Kids, THE INCOHERENTS is Now on VOD!!!

Bruce Flansburgh is a bored, 40-something New York paralegal who hasn’t let go of his dream of rock stardom. While slogging through an increasingly unbearable day to day existence, it dawns on him that the reunions of The Pixies, Soundgarden and other alternative/indie rock bands from the 90’s could inspire his former group, THE INCOHERENTS, to reform. The group, each mired in some sort of midlife malaise, reunite their 90's indie rock band for one last shot at stardom. DEANY BEAN IS DEAD - Opening July 10th

A down-on-her-luck woman (Allison Marie Volk, “The Lone Ranger”, “Anya”)  tries to win back her ex-boyfriend at his engagement party without revealing that her recently strangled boss is in the trunk of her car. HELLRAISER Stars Ashley Laurence & Doug Bradly to Guest on Season Finale of THE LAST DRIVE-IN

Shudder, AMC Networks’ premium streaming service for horror, thrillers and the supernatural, announced today that fan-favorite horror legends Doug Bradley and Ashley Laurence will make a special appearance on the season finale of The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs, streaming Friday, June 19, at 9PM ET. Laurence and Bradley are best known to horror fans for their work in multiple Hellraiser films, with Laurence portraying resourceful heroine Kristy Cotton and Bradley as Pinhead, leader of the demonic Cenobites.   “What could be better than a delightful evening sitting trailer-side on a balmy Texas evening with Joe Bob Briggs and my friend and colleague Ashley Laurence to shoot the breeze and talk of this and that….and maybe a little touch of Hellraiser too?”, said Doug Bradley. “Join us on Friday to eavesdrop on our chat. RELIC to Screen at Drive-ins For Advance Run

Ahead of its July 10th theatrical and Digital/VOD date, IFC Films is bringing RELIC to drive-in theaters only as an advance week-run beginning July 3rd as studios delay new releases to later in the summer. With a current score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, RELIC is one of the year’s most highly anticipated genre films of the Summer. HOUSE OF HUMMINGBIRD to be released in Virtual Cinemas June 26th

HOUSE OF HUMMINGBIRD is a critically-acclaimed coming-of-age drama directed by Bora Kim and set in South Korea. Positioned against the backdrop of a rapidly expanding Seoul in 1994, a lonely 14-year-old Eun-hee moves through life like a hummingbird searching for a taste of sweetness wherever she may find it. Deprived of attention from her family, she roams the neighborhood with her best friend, attempts romantic relationships with both girls and boys alike and is sent to the hospital with an unclear diagnosis. When new teacher Young-ji arrives, she becomes the first adult Eun-hee feels really understands her. The film was awarded Best International Narrative Feature at Tribeca Film Festival 2019 by a panel that included renowned actress Angela Bassett, along with two two other awards. In addition, the movie earned Grand Prix for Best Feature Film (Generation 14+ category) at Berlinale and the Audience Award at The Busan International Film Festival. Opening Nationwide in Virtu
