Ep. 187 of War Machine vs. War Horse: The Wolfpack (The Truman Show vs. Pleasantville)

On  this episode we jump inside a pop culture bubble by living with Jim Carrey in THE TRUMAN SHOW and (unfortunately) Tobey Maguire in PLEASANTVILLE. Non from the great podcast  Joy Sandwich   joins us for that excursion, but first we take a look at a Sundance hit just now making its way to DVD with THE WOLFPACK.

Ep. 181 of War Machine vs. War Horse: The Martian (Apollo 13 vs. Gravity)

On this episode we attempt to survive in space with Hadas from the Common Room podcast, and thankfully we have a couple of movies on the subject to entertain us. In APOLLO 13, Tom Hanks, Bill Paxton, and Kevin Bacon rely on each other and the crew back on Earth to put together a plan to return home after a failed trip to the moon, whereas in GRAVITY it’s Sandra Bullock in a solo quest to return to our home planet, although George Clooney does provide a brief pep talk. But before all that grim business, we express a little bit of joy with Jess and Non of the Joy Sandwich podcast, as we admire the humor with which Matt Damon approaches being stranded on Mars in new release THE MARTIAN.

Episode 57 of Pop Culture Case Study - A History of Violence and Identity

In this episode, Dave and Britt disagree strongly on the qualities (or lack thereof in her opinion) of A History of Violence.  During Fangirl Fixation, Britt gets distracted and talks about everything from Viggo Mortensen's various endowments to her terrifying crush on Rutger Hauer.  Join us as we talk about the movie and Identity!
