RLJE Films, a business unit of AMC Networks, has picked up select rights to THE SUPERDEEP from Shudder, AMC Networks’ streaming service for horror, thriller and the supernatural. THE SUPERDEEP will be available on January 4, 2022 on VOD, Digital HD, DVD and Blu-ray.  The DVD will be available for an SRP of $27.97 and the Blu-ray for an SRP of $28.96. Today I joined by Denis Theriault to discuss his directorial debut I AM SYD STONE Syd Stone, a former A-List actor, finds himself in a small town, reluctantly shooting a B-movie. While getting drunk in a hotel bar, he makes an instant connection with Matt, a young lawyer on the verge of his biggest case yet, and it’s more than friendly. Starring Travis Nelson, Benjamin Charles Watson, and Daiva Johnston, and directed by Denis Theriault, I AM SYD STONE premieres on digital and DVD December 7 from Dark Star Pictures.

Starring Maria Ozawa, the 11-minute fright-fest is based on the Japanese folklore of Oiwa Yotsuya (Yotsuya Kaidan). A true story from the Edo period, it told of a samurai that had his beautiful wife killed because she became deformed, only to be haunted by her vision until he went insane and killed himself. Now hundreds of years later, Yotsuya is back! Out to punish more ugly characters by recruiting the pretty.  Lucy (half Japanese/half American) just got out of an abusive relationship and took refuge with her new American roommate. Things turn horrible fast for her when a ghost shows her seemingly random images and gives her three days. The clock starts ticking. She will have to solve the mystery of the visions, find the clues within them, to discover what the ghost wants her to do before time runs out.

A kind of spiritual sequel (and cautionary counterpoint) to Hopper’s own Easy Rider, OUT OF THE BLUE chronicles the idealism of the sixties decline into the hazy nihilism of the 1980’s.  Don Barnes (Dennis Hopper) is a truck driver in prison for drunkenly smashing his rig into a school bus. Linda Manz (Days of Heaven) plays Cebe, his daughter, a teen rebel obsessed with Elvis and The Sex Pistols. Her mother (Sharon Farrell) waitresses, shoots up drugs and takes refuge in the arms of other men.
