Happy 20th Birthday Pulp Fiction.

You read that correctly Pulp Fiction is 20. Wow It's hard to believe that someone who was born the day Pulp Fiction was released is old enough to join the military and vote. Yup feeling old. Fuck it, lets watch some deleted scenes.

Wilow Creek

2014 Directed By Bobcat Goldthwait  Bobcat Goldthwait has done something truly remarkable with his latest directorial effort. He has made a found footage horror film that could not have been made better if it were told as a conventional narrative feature. Most found footage films pull me out because I can't quite give in to the fact that the characters on screen would still be filming while all hell is breaking loose around them.   Willow Creek centers on Jim and Kelly, a couple who are traveling to northern California making a documentary about Bigfoot. The first half of the film shows our characters interviewing the residents of Willow Creek. The interviews focus on Bigfoot sightings and the Patterson-Gimlin film that captured the only known footage of the fabled creature. The only actors in the first half the film are our two leads, the rest of the cast is made up by real people who are telling their first hand accounts of living in the Area 5

Teeth

2007 Directed By Mitchell Lichenstein  Starring Jess Weixler, John Hensley and Josh Pais Dawn (Weixler) is young high school student on the verge of discovering her sexuality. She is awkwardly unaware of her own body and the power that she possesses. Raised less than a mile from a nuclear power plant Dawn discovers that she has "adapted" and can defend herself from male predators in a gruesome but highly effective manor. I really can't go any further without heading into spoiler territory, so I'll give you a really vague overview of the film. This is a B Movie. A B Movie that when you consider the subject matter has no right to be as good as it is. The movie has an over the top premise but is grounded and thoughtful in its execution.  The film is funny, shocking and at its heart a cautionary tale to young men and a story of empowerment to young women. Have you heard of "Vagina Dentata?" Neither had I. Basically its a condition where someon

Interview with Farzad Sangari the director of Mudbloods

Transforming Harry Potter’s fictional competition into a physically demanding, real-life sport, quidditch has secured its place as one of the fastest growing collegiate club sports today. MUDBLOODS follows the resilient underdogs of the UCLA Quidditch team as they make their way to the Fifth Annual Quidditch World Cup in New York City. Through nail biting victories and losses, the dreamers, creators and athletes who make up this exceptional community come together to make this magical sport into something you could’ve never imagined–until now. How are you today?  I'm doing well, thanks for asking. Where are you from?  I was born in Iran, and I grew up in San Diego, CA.  Who introduced you to film?  I've always liked movies, but I didn't really think about them in I think the way you are referring until my last semester of university.  I needed an elective to take, so I took a film class.  I thought it'd be easy, but it was exciting in a

Day 10 of my 31 days of horror brings us The Sacrament

2013 Directed By Ti West This is the second found footage horror film that I have seen in the last week and I loved both of them. I had convinced myself that there was no life remaining in the found footage concept but Bobcat Golthwait and Ti West have shown me that I was way off. Before the opening scene of The Sacrament title cards give a brief explanation of the Vice multimedia company. Vice is a company that is known for “covering provocative & controversial stories” that are normally “overlooked in the mainstream media” and the type of journalism they practice is known as “immersionism.” In the opening scene of The Sacrament we are introduced to Sam Turner and Patrick Carter. Sam is a journalist from from Vice and Patrick is a photographer whose sister Caroline disappeared after attending a sober living facility in Mississippi. After months of no word from Caroline, Patrick receives a letter in the mail from. In the letter Caroline explains that she has been
