Jameson Brooks Interview Writer / Director of BOMB CITY

Jameson Brooks is a writer, director, and editor originally from Amarillo, Texas. He is a former BMX and skateboard enthusiast. I had Jameson on the show to discuss his feature debut BOMB CITY . The film is a crime-drama, about the cultural aversion of a group of punk rockers in a conservative Texas town. Their ongoing battle with a rival, more-affluent clique leads to a controversial hate crime that questions the morality of American justice. BOMB CITY will be in theaters and available on VOD/Digital HD Feb 9th. To see if it will be playing at a theatre near you or to find it on demand go to bombcityfilm.com To hear my conversation with Jameson press play on the embedded player below.

PROJECTING FILM: West of Her (Before Sunrise meets Death Proof)

On the road again with Chris and Mike of  PROJECTING FILM . A pair of podcast lovers who fancy themselves as Celine and Jesse from Richard Linklater's BEFORE SUNRISE but in actuality are more like Zoe Bell and Kurt Russell from Quentin Tarantino's DEATH PROOF. We'll leave that up to the listeners which one is the cowardly stuntman... BUT FOR NOW we have yet another indie film gem from 2018 with  Ethan Warren 's  WEST OF HER . A strikingly beautifyl film full of stolen shots and stolen moments also manages to keep its feet on the ground and provide the spark of a romance between two people who travel the country together but are heading in very different directions. Also they aren't Chris and Mike. So well worth spending your time with them instead. On that note, follow us at the links below! Jean-Luc Godard & Jean-Pierre Gorin: Five Films, 1968-1971 Blu-ray Review

After finishing his film Weekend in 1967, Jean-Luc Godard shifted gears to embark on engaging more directly with the radical political movements of the era, and thus create a new kind of film, or, as he eventually put it: "new ideas distributed in a new way." This new method in part involved collaborating with the precocious young critic and journalist, Jean-Pierre Gorin. Both as a two-person unit, and as part of the loose collective known as the Groupe Dziga Vertov (named after the early 20th-century Russian filmmaker and theoretician), Godard and Gorin would realize "some political possibilities for the practice of cinema" and craft new frameworks for investigating the relationships between image and sound, spectator and subject, cinema and society. Included here are five films, all originally shot in 16mm celluloid, that serve as examples of Godard and Gorin's revolutionary project. Gordon McAlpin Writer/Director of MULTIPLEX 10

MULTIPLEX 10 centers around the lives of the movie-loving and customer-weary staff of the Multiplex 10 Cinemas. Kurt is an usher, pining for that special someone to share his love of horror movies. The newest hire, Jason, is a film snob who just needs a freakin’ job. Despite their differences, the two come to realize they have a little common ground in their shared—but very different—love of cinema. Today my guest is Gordon McAlpin, the co-writer and director of  Multiplex  10 . A short film that is currently available on Vimeo On Demand. PROJECTING FILM: Kate Can't Swim (Your Sister's Sister meets The One I Love)

On our latest episode we travel with three films to cabins in the woods and find the usual horror movie tropes: awkward encounters with friends, emotional outbursts that push people away, and revelations that forever change the bonds with those we love. Which is to say that new indie film KATE CAN'T SWIM gets it all right and if you like what you saw in YOUR SISTER'S SISTER and THE ONE I LOVE, make a point to check out the feature debut of writer/director Josh Helman. If you do, maybe we will get the sequels of various KATE CAN'Ts that our hosts so desperately want. 99 FROM 99: Varsity Blues and She's All That

Welcome to the first episode of  99 FROM 99  and join us as we take a chronological look back at the films from 1999, the greatest year in movies! Your hosts  Michael Denniston  and  Ben Zuk  begin, as most years at the cinema do, with the entertainment with no hope for Oscar gold... but maybe, just maybe, a whipped cream bikini temptress will prove enough. VARSITY BLUES and SHE'S ALL THAT were early box-office hits of this year, and we'll see how they hold up now that your hosts are decidedly not in the target demographic, BUT the waves of nostalgia may be just strong enough to break them. Find out if our hosts and this podcast survive by hitting that play button! Facebook / Instagram / Twitter : @99from99
