D.O.A. Release New Studio Album FIGHT BACK on May 1st

D.O.A., Canada's legendary pioneering punks who set the bar high for punk and basically invented hardcore, are ready to rip it up on the occasion of their 40th anniversary. They have a brand new album called Fight Back and they are embarking on a worldwide tour to support this impressive new effort. The "Men of Action" are ready to take on all opposition and lay down a punk rock path of wild music and free thought. Their rough and ready line up is led by the godfather of Hardcore, Joe Shithead Keithley (guitar, vocals) he is more than ably accompanied by the manic rhythm section of Paddy Duddy (drums) and Corkscrew (bass). Early reviews indicate that Fight Back is the most innovative D.O.A. album since War on 45. D.O.A. has always been right on the pulse of what's going on in our screwed up world. Fight Back deals with what we have left, which in a lot of ways, is not much.  "When you really think about it, income inequality and disparity is at the ro

Trailer for John Cameron Mitchell's HOW TO TALK TO GIRLS AT PARTIES

From Neil Gaiman (" AMERICAN GODS ," CORALINE ) and John Cameron Mitchell ( HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH, SHORTBUS ) comes a new film that appears to be a batshit crazy examination of pop culture, HOW TO TALK TO GIRLS AT PARTIES . Enn (Tony Award-winner Alex Sharp) is a shy suburban London teenager in 1977, sneaking out with his best friends to after-hours punk parties. One night they stumble upon a bizarre gathering of sexy teenagers who seem like they are from another planet. In fact, they are from another planet, visiting Earth to complete a mysterious rite of passage. That doesn't stop Enn from falling madly in love with Zan (Elle Fanning), a beautiful and rebellious alien teenage who, despite her allegiance to her strange colony, is fascinated by Enn. Together they embark on a delirious adventure through the kinetic punk rock world of 1970s London, inadvertently setting off a series of events that will lead to the ultimate showdown of punks vs. aliens, and test t

THE GRAND GESTURE: Sweet Home Alabama

As promised (threatened?) we get around to SWEET HOME ALABAMA with the only reason to listen to this episode, returning guest  ALLISON  of the  NOT YOUR LITTLE LADY  podcast. In this wide-ranging conversation we discuss watching this 2002 romcom hit with outsiders, Hollywood's obsession with portraying the South as a time capsule, and sacred dog burial grounds. But it's not all serious business as eventually we get into a game of Hot or Not with Southern leading men by doing some on-air research with our personal assistant Google. We buy into Josh Lucas in that respect, but do we buy Reese Witherspoon as a woman who would procrastinate getting divorce papers signed for YEARS? No, but we hope you buy into this episode by clicking on one of the links below: Support what we do with bonus content and early episodes on  Patreon Listen on  iTunes / Podbean Facebook / Instagram / Twitter : @grandgesturepod Hosts: Dave  @pccasestudy  Mike  @warmachinehorse Email us your

99 FROM 99: Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels

We hustle our listeners to yet another episode on the films from 1999... although on this one we are keeping in tradition of this one arriving a bit later to the States, so yes, for you sticklers out there this is originally a 1998 film. But no matter! Celebrate with us the arrival of future action star Jason Statham in the movie that started his career as well as director Guy Ritchie.
