THE WOBBLIES 4K Restoration of the Landmark Labor Movement Documentary Opens April 29

Kino Lorber will be releasing a new 4K restoration of THE WOBBLIES (1979), the landmark labor movement documentary by Stewart Bird and Deborah Shaffer.

Opens on APRIL 29 in New York at Metrograph. Screens Nationwide for International Workers Day (MAY 1) including The American Cinematheque in Los Angeles. Other cities include Austin, Brattleboro, Denver, Detroit, Philadelphia, Seattle, Silver Spring, and Tallahassee.

The Wobblies premiered at the 1979 New York Film Festival and tells the story of the radical labor union, the Industrial Workers of the World or IWW, better known as the Wobblies, which championed the formation of “one big union” for all unskilled laborers, regardless of their race and gender. This story is brought to life through a combination of rare archival footage, period artwork, and songs including many written by Joe Hill, complemented by illuminating interviews with surviving Union members
