Cliffhanger - First Images

Principal photography is underway for the reboot of the 1993 action classic Cliffhanger, with the first official look dropping from the set in Austria’s East Tyrol region of the Lienz Dolomites. Produced by Rocket Science in collaboration with Thank You Pictures and Supernix, this updated rendition of the high-octane thriller stars Lily James (Pam & Tommy, The Iron Claw) and Pierce Brosnan (GoldenEye, The Thomas Crown Affair), with Non-Stop director Jaume Collet-Serra at the helm.

The reimagined Cliffhanger breathes fresh life into the story with Brosnan stepping into the role of seasoned mountaineer Ray Cooper. Cooper and his daughter Sydney run a mountain chalet in the rugged Dolomites, where a tranquil weekend getaway takes a violent turn when they’re targeted by a gang of ruthless kidnappers. Lily James stars as Ray’s older daughter Naomi, who must face her own harrowing memories of a past climbing accident to survive and rescue her family. The plot, based on a story by A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night writer-director Ana Lily Amirpour, promises a blend of psychological tension, high-stakes action, and cinematic landscapes, shot against the dramatic peaks of the Alps.

“Bringing this film to life with large-format cameras on location in the Dolomites was essential to fully capture the scale of what we’re aiming for. We want to deliver a truly visceral, immersive experience,” commented director Collet-Serra. “Lily’s dedication to her role has been extraordinary—she’s undergone extensive training and even learned to climb, making for some incredible shots we couldn’t have achieved otherwise.”

The multi-national co-production spans Spain, Germany, Austria, Italy, Hungary, and the UK, with substantial backing from FilmFernsehFonds Bavaria, the German Federal Film Fund DFFF2, Cine Tirol Film Commission, and Italian and Spanish tax incentives, underscoring the film’s ambitious scale and European roots.

With production underway in Austria and Bavaria, followed by scenes in Italy, Cliffhanger is shaping up to deliver an intense, modern spin on the beloved classic. The film is expected to release in theaters in late 2025, with audiences eager to experience this adrenaline-charged tale against the backdrop of Europe’s most breathtaking alpine terrain.

Explaining the Ending of MULHOLLAND DRIVE

MULHOLLAND DRIVE is a complex and surreal film directed by David Lynch, known for its non-linear narrative and dreamlike sequences. The ending is open to interpretation and has been the subject of much debate among viewers. Here's a breakdown of the ending: Diane's Dream vs. Reality: Throughout the film, there are two main narrative threads: one follows Betty/Diane's dreamlike experiences in Hollywood, and the other delves into Diane's harsh reality. The ending reveals that the majority of the film has been a dream constructed by Diane Selwyn, a failed actress, as a means to escape the guilt and pain of her actions. Betty/Diane's Descent into Madness: Betty, played by Naomi Watts, represents Diane's idealized self—a hopeful and innocent aspiring actress. However, as the film progresses, it becomes clear that Betty's story is unraveling, and her identity begins to merge with Diane's. This culminates in the revelation that Betty is merely a construct of Di...

4K Blu-ray Review: Drop (2025) — A Tense, Tech-Driven Thriller That Mostly Sticks the Landing

In Drop, director Christopher Landon (Freaky, Happy Death Day) crafts a nerve-wracking thriller centered on a devastating dilemma: would you take a life to save the ones you love? The story follows Violet, a widowed single mom attempting to re-enter the dating world after years of grief and recovery. Played with emotional precision by Meghann Fahy, Violet finds herself on a promising first date with the affable and seemingly genuine Henry (Brandon Sklenar) in an elegant, glass-walled Chicago restaurant. But their evening takes a sinister turn when Violet receives a disturbing message via a sleek, anonymous app called DigiDrop: if she doesn’t kill her date before the check arrives, her son and sister will die. What unfolds is a tightly wound 95-minute thriller that feels both classic and timely. The film builds its suspense through confinement, not action. Most of the story unfolds in real-time at their dinner table, creating a pressure-cooker environment that reflects Violet’s psycholo...
