Bleecker Street and Fathom Entertainment to Re-Release Cult Classic 'This Is Spinal Tap' in 4K Restoration

Bleecker Street is teaming up with Fathom Entertainment to bring This Is Spinal Tap back to the big screen in all its glory. The 1984 cult classic is getting a fully remastered and definitive 4K restoration, set to hit theaters across the U.S. with exclusive screenings on July 5, 6, and 7.

Created by Rob Reiner, Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer, This Is Spinal Tap follows England’s loudest and most spectacularly unlucky band on their calamitous U.S. tour. Since its original release, the film has earned critical acclaim and a devoted following, eventually being recognized as "culturally, historically, and aesthetically significant" by the National Film Registry in 2002.

This special theatrical run comes hot on the heels of Bleecker Street’s acquisition of U.S. distribution rights for both the original film and its highly anticipated sequel, Spinal Tap II: The End Continues, which will hit theaters on September 12. The screenings also mark the third collaboration between Bleecker Street and Fathom Entertainment, following the 2023 releases of Golda and Waitress: The Musical.

Fans eager to experience This Is Spinal Tap on the big screen can grab their tickets later this spring through FathomEntertainment.com and participating theater box offices. Theater locations and availability are subject to change, so be sure to check local listings.

Whether you’re a die-hard fan who knows every quotable line or a first-time viewer ready to see what all the fuss is about, this special re-release promises to take the laughs—and the volume—up to eleven.

There’s nothing quite like watching This Is Spinal Tap on the big screen. The 4K restoration gives the rock mockumentary a whole new level of clarity, letting fans appreciate every hilarious detail in stunning quality. Plus, with an upgraded sound mix, Spinal Tap’s legendary anthems like "Big Bottom" and "Stonehenge" will hit with the full force of a concert hall.

But beyond the technical upgrades, the real magic of seeing Spinal Tap in theaters is the shared experience. Laughing along with a crowd amplifies the film’s impeccable comedic timing, making every absurd moment and quotable line even funnier. Whether you’re introducing someone new to the film or celebrating its genius with fellow fans, watching it in a packed theater is an experience you just can’t get at home.

With its unforgettable one-liners, pioneering mockumentary style, and a soundtrack that still rocks, This Is Spinal Tap was made to be seen on the big screen—loud, larger than life, and with an audience that knows how to appreciate comedy turned up to eleven.

MULHOLLAND DRIVE Ending Explained

MULHOLLAND DRIVE is a complex and surreal film directed by David Lynch, known for its non-linear narrative and dreamlike sequences. The ending is open to interpretation and has been the subject of much debate among viewers. Here's a breakdown of the ending: Diane's Dream vs. Reality: Throughout the film, there are two main narrative threads: one follows Betty/Diane's dreamlike experiences in Hollywood, and the other delves into Diane's harsh reality. The ending reveals that the majority of the film has been a dream constructed by Diane Selwyn, a failed actress, as a means to escape the guilt and pain of her actions. Betty/Diane's Descent into Madness: Betty, played by Naomi Watts, represents Diane's idealized self—a hopeful and innocent aspiring actress. However, as the film progresses, it becomes clear that Betty's story is unraveling, and her identity begins to merge with Diane's. This culminates in the revelation that Betty is merely a construct of Di...

Blu-ray Review: Presence

Steven Soderbergh’s Presence is not just a ghost story—it’s a deeply personal, introspective, and stylistically daring supernatural thriller that stands out for its bold use of perspective and moral depth. Shot entirely from the first-person point of view of a spirit, the film immerses the viewer into the consciousness of an unseen entity navigating a family’s domestic unraveling. It’s not only a technical experiment, but a story with emotional weight, subtle revelations, and a chilling undercurrent of tragedy. Premiering at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival and released by Neon in early 2025, Presence has become a sleeper hit, earning $10.5 million on a modest $2 million budget. Directed, shot, and edited by Soderbergh, with a script from veteran screenwriter David Koepp, the film offers an experience that is simultaneously eerie, emotionally nuanced, and structurally inventive. From the very first frame, Presence makes its unique perspective clear. The camera doesn’t merely observ...
