Fox Tucson Theatre to Celebrate 25 Years of Resurrection Blvd. with Special Reunion Event

Tucson, AZ  — The Fox Tucson Theatre is preparing to host a milestone celebration for Resurrection Blvd., the groundbreaking television drama that paved the way for Latino representation on screen. On Sunday, October 19, 2025, the historic venue will welcome fans and newcomers alike for A Day with Resurrection Blvd · The 25th Anniversary Celebration, presented by Elephant Scout Films.

Launched in 2000, Resurrection Blvd. made television history as the first hour-long drama created with an entirely Latino cast and creative team. The series followed the lives of a Mexican American family in East Los Angeles and quickly became a touchstone for authentic Latino storytelling in mainstream media.

For show creator and executive producer Dennis Leoni, the anniversary carries special meaning. “This series remains the highlight of my career,” said Leoni. “Bringing the celebration to Tucson, my hometown, is deeply personal—especially at The Fox, where I first experienced the magic of movies more than six decades ago. I’m excited to revisit the pilot, share highlights from the series, and reflect on how it all came together.”

The program will include a screening of the pilot episode, curated clips from the series, and a behind-the-scenes discussion with key cast and crew members. Scheduled to appear are Tony Plana, Michael DeLorenzo, Ruth Livier, Nicholas Gonzalez, Esai Morales, Mauricio Mendoza, Lou Diamond Phillips, Daniel Zacapa, Glynn Turman, and Dennis Leoni. The panel will be guided by producer and performer Dan Guerrero.

The evening will also mark the launch of The Leoni Filmmaking Scholarship, a $2,500 award aimed at supporting aspiring filmmakers in southern Arizona. One local high school student, nominated by their film teacher, will be announced as the recipient in advance and officially recognized on stage during the celebration.

A limited number of VIP passes are available, offering guests entry to a private after-party with the cast and crew. Attendees will enjoy hors d’oeuvres, drinks, and the chance to connect directly with the artists who shaped the landmark series. Chris Scott of Elephant Scout emphasized the importance of the reunion: “Resurrection Blvd. opened doors and gave visibility to stories rarely told at the time. This celebration is not just about honoring the series—it’s about acknowledging its ongoing influence and looking ahead to future storytellers.”

Known as the “Crown Jewel of Downtown Tucson,” the Fox Theatre provides an ideal setting for this cultural milestone. With its Art Deco architecture, intimate 1,164-seat capacity, and top-notch acoustics, the venue offers both grandeur and closeness, ensuring the audience will feel part of the celebration.

The event takes place Sunday, October 19, 2025, with doors opening at 2:00 p.m. at Fox Tucson Theatre, 17 W Congress St, Tucson, AZ 85701. Tickets are now available at foxtucson.com/resurrection, featuring both general admission and limited VIP packages. The Leo Kent is the official hotel partner for the celebration.

This one-night-only event promises to be both a heartfelt reunion and a forward-looking celebration of Latino voices in film and television.

Explaining the Ending of MULHOLLAND DRIVE

David Lynch’s Mulholland Drive remains one of the most haunting and enigmatic films ever made. It operates like a riddle that refuses to be solved, luring the viewer into a world where time, memory, and identity dissolve into one another. What begins as a mysterious, almost whimsical Hollywood fairy tale gradually transforms into a psychological nightmare. By the end, it’s clear that what we’ve been watching is not a mystery to be unraveled but an emotional landscape, the mind of a woman caught between fantasy and despair. The film tells the story of two women, Betty Elms and Rita, whose lives intertwine after Rita survives a car crash and loses her memory. Betty, a bright and optimistic aspiring actress freshly arrived in Los Angeles, takes her in. Together, they embark on an investigation into Rita’s identity, which unfolds like a noir detective story bathed in dreamlike light. Everything about this world feels heightened: Betty’s charm, the coincidence of events, and the ease with w...

LOCKED follows Eddie (Bill SkarsgÄrd), a desperate man who breaks into a seemingly empty luxury SUV, only to find himself ensnared in a meticulously crafted trap. His captor? William (Anthony Hopkins), a vigilante with a twisted sense of justice. What starts as a simple break-in quickly spirals into a nightmare, as Eddie struggles to escape a vehicle designed to be his prison. With no way out and an unseen force pulling the strings, survival becomes a race against time in a ride where justice is anything but blind. This 95-minute thrill ride promises to keep audiences on edge by blending elements of survival horror and psychological warfare. Its confined setting turns an everyday luxury vehicle into an inescapable nightmare, and the ride explores themes of morality, punishment, and the true cost of justice. Only in Theaters on March 21. I love a limited-setting horror thriller. With limited settings, the film must rely more on character interactions and internal conflicts to create ten...
