Arrow Video Launches New Budget-Friendly Cult Label "Toy Robot Video" This September

Physical media is having a massive resurgence, especially with a new generation of film fans discovering the simple joy of owning a movie on a shelf. Looking to tap into that nostalgic energy, boutique distributor Arrow Films has announced the launch of a brand new subsidiary label called Toy Robot Video.

Set to debut this September across the US, Canada, and the UK, the new label is designed to recreate the classic experience of browsing a local video store. Toy Robot Video promises high-quality film transfers from the best available elements, but with a major twist: everything will be packaged with vibrant new cover artwork, colorfully branded OBI strips, slipcards, and art cards, all at allowance-friendly prices that leave you with enough cash for snacks.

"We are thrilled to announce the launch of a new home entertainment video label," said Toy Robot Video’s Mike Hewitt. "Toy Robot Video is intended to be a fun and inclusive label, designed to complement our core Arrow Video brand, spreading the joy of physical media ownership outside of the boundaries of cult fans and cineastes."

Hewitt noted that the label will branch out into more mainstream genres, comedy, and animation. To kick things off, they have lined up an eclectic mix of martial arts, sci-fi sequels, retro slashers, and eighties fantasy favorites for their September rollout.

Here is a look at what is hitting shelves this September:

September 8: Sci-Fi Armor and Old-School Chop Socky

The launch kicks off with two distinct flavors of cult cinema. First up is Guyver: Dark Hero, making its US Blu-ray debut as a two-disc set. The 1994 superhero sequel stars Sean Barker as the alien-human hybrid fighting to save the planet from mutated Zoanoids. The release includes both the original theatrical version and a newly enhanced cut featuring updated special effects.

Joining it on the same day is Roaring Fire, an action-comedy starring Hiroyuki Sanada (Shogun) and the legendary Sonny Chiba. Mixing the speed and force of classic martial arts cinema with an eighties Texas rancher storyline, this marks the film's very first Blu-ray release in the US and Canada.

September 15: He-Man in 4K and Campfire Terrors

Mid-month brings the crown jewel of the launch line-up: the 1987 live-action Masters of the Universe. Dolph Lundgren’s turn as He-Man and Frank Langella’s sinister performance as Skeletor are getting a massive upgrade. The film arrives as a two-disc release available in both standard Blu-ray and a crisp 4K UHD format, complete with a newly unearthed, extended preview cut of the film available for the first time.

If fantasy blockbusters aren't your thing, the same day sees the release of Marshmallow. This fresh indie slasher debuted at the 2025 Panic Fest and stars Corbin Bernsen. It follows a shy twelve-year-old at a secluded summer camp where a creepy campfire story about a psychotic doctor suddenly comes to life, delivering plenty of retro eighties horror vibes.

September 29: Supernatural Ninja Action

Rounding out the month is Ninja Wars, a standout piece of early 1980s Japanese genre cinema. The film reunites Hiroyuki Sanada and Sonny Chiba for a dark, stylized dive into feudal Japan. Blending historical ninja lore with supernatural horror and fantasy, the story follows a wandering warrior caught in a bloody war between rival clans.

Toy Robot Video is setting a distinct tone out of the gate, focusing on fun, accessible, and beautifully packaged releases. With a deep slate already promised for the remainder of 2026, physical media collectors have a lot to look forward to this fall.

Explaining the Ending of No Country for Old Men

No Country for Old Men is a tense, spare, and philosophical thriller that upends traditional narrative expectations. While it contains the elements of a crime drama—drug deals, hitmen, shootouts—it refuses to follow a conventional path. By the time the film ends, the central conflict seems unresolved, the villain walks away, and the protagonist we’ve been following disappears offscreen. To understand the film’s ending, one must look beyond plot and consider its themes: fate, violence, moral decay, and the erosion of order in the modern world. The Narrative Setup The story begins with Llewelyn Moss (Josh Brolin), a Vietnam veteran who discovers a drug deal gone wrong in the Texas desert and makes off with $2 million in cash. Anton Chigurh (Javier Bardem), a remorseless hitman, is sent to retrieve the money. Sheriff Ed Tom Bell (Tommy Lee Jones), a weary and introspective lawman, tries to make sense of the violence unfolding around him. At first glance, the film appears to set up a c...

Explaining the Ending of MULHOLLAND DRIVE

David Lynch’s Mulholland Drive remains one of the most haunting and enigmatic films ever made. It operates like a riddle that refuses to be solved, luring the viewer into a world where time, memory, and identity dissolve into one another. What begins as a mysterious, almost whimsical Hollywood fairy tale gradually transforms into a psychological nightmare. By the end, it’s clear that what we’ve been watching is not a mystery to be unraveled but an emotional landscape, the mind of a woman caught between fantasy and despair. The film tells the story of two women, Betty Elms and Rita, whose lives intertwine after Rita survives a car crash and loses her memory. Betty, a bright and optimistic aspiring actress freshly arrived in Los Angeles, takes her in. Together, they embark on an investigation into Rita’s identity, which unfolds like a noir detective story bathed in dreamlike light. Everything about this world feels heightened: Betty’s charm, the coincidence of events, and the ease with w...
