James Ransone and Shannyn Sossaman set to star in Sinister 2

James Ransone will reprise his role from the 2012 Blumhouse production alongside Shannyn Sossaman. The first Sinister made $78 million on a $3 million budget so this sequel is not really a surprise. It's only surprising that it took two years to green light the follow up. Jason Blum will be producing the film.

Cabin Fever: Patient Zero Review

2014 Starring Sean Astin, Currie Graham and Ryan Donowho Directed By Kaare Andrews Following in the shoes of Ti West and Eli Roth has to be a daunting task. Ti West the man responsible for some of the best horror films of the last 10 years made a bad Cabin Fever movie so how could Kaare Andrews make this one succeed. Trying to up the ante in films that were already batshit crazy doesn’t seem possible so what do you do? Take the familiar, a group of friends on a weekend getaway, add in something new, a bearded Sean Astin being held against his own will by creepy scientists, hire Vincent Gustani to handle the makeup effects and throw as much crazy at the screen as you can. The only question is does it work? The short review…. Yes.  This movie absolutely works and is not only a worthy sequel to Cabin Fever it washes away the sour taste left by Cabin Fever: Spring Fever. Patient Zero follows two stories at the same time. The first character we are introduced to is Porte...

Help Save Scarecrow Video

I became aware of Scarecrow Video after David Chen made a wonderful short film about the North West video store last year. The store is massive, independently owned and one many businesses struck hard by new media. I miss video stores. We only have one decent sized video store left here in Tucson and even though I only rent from them a few times a year its an experience I always cherish. Walking up and down the isles, looking at the staff picks and trying to find that little seen masterpiece that I could show to my friends. The video store was the record shop for the socially awkward misfits like myself. It was a place where I was a part of a tribe. A place where the patrons and employees spoke my language. I love the convenience of VOD but we've lost something with streaming media that cannot be replaced. Conversation. Scarecrow has started a  Kickstarter  to help keep the store open. Help keep the Seattle conversation going.

Dexters Michael C Hall playing lead in Stanley Kubrick's God Fearing Man

The Hollywood Reporter  is reporting that Michael C. Hall best known for his roles in the cable hits Dexter and Six Feet Under will be starring in the Stanley Kubrick penned God Fearing Man. Entertainment One is producing the former feature script as a miniseries. The film will chronicle the true life escapades of Hebert Emerson Wilson. Chances are you haven't heard of Herbert Emerson Wilson but he was one of the most successful safe crackers and bank robbers of the 20th century. Dexter + Kubrick + Bank Robbers = Nerdgasim  If you have a few minutes to kill... go down the rabbit hole of  I Stole 16,000,000  and other never completed  Stanley Kubrick  projects

The Vampire Chornicles finally being made... again?

It feels like ten years ago that we first started hearing rumblings about Anne Rice's The Vampire Chronicles being re adapted for the big screen by Universal Pictures. Brian Grazer was initially developing the films for Imagine Entertainment. After multiple writers and possible stars the films have been languishing in development hell for years now. It looks like Universal might be rolling the novels into it's overall Universal Monsters rebbot. I for one am really excited by this prospect. Using strong source material as the backbones of these projects is a really smart choice.  Dear Internet, Its obviously way too soon to make up your mind about these developments but some interesting food for thought.
